A New Chapter: This is a chance to share myself to the world regardless of what others think, I'm willing to be the unique expression after professional boxing and traumatic brain injury survivor.I have freedom to live my life and forget the mistakes of the past and press on. Can you relate?
Living our lives, well we REALLY DON’T KNOW what’s on the other side… People might think, as I did, but the other side could mean changing your life forever….. What do I mean by this? Picture yourself waking up, going to work, during that time you have a small accident (and not thinking much of it), continue working, being finished you go home, now its evening and friends are calling you to go out, your mind is not set on going out because of you having a headache, going to sleep, and so on for three and a half more days until you DON’T WAKE UP….
I just turned 21 years old and thinking that nothing was going to stop me! I was now a real adult…and had the I.D. to prove it. But, as soon as I turned 21 a few days later, my life changed forever. I experienced a major blood clot in my head, that was slowly entering into my brain from that small accident. The reason for the accident was because I fell ONLY about four feet and hit the ground (dirt and grass). Now, me being into sports, THERE WAS NO WAY I WAS THINKING THAT THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN…
The last few hours at home sleeping, I fell into a coma. I experienced a Subdural Hematoma. I was rushed to the hospital and after two brain surgery’s (the 2nd one was because my brain started to swell) I continued to lay in a coma. Thanking God, after two and a half weeks I was able to come out of the coma, BUT HAD TO RELEARN EVERYTHING OVER AGAIN…
After losing my job when I was 38 yrs old because of the school closing, I decided to finish what I started a few years earlier! I once wrote this amazing outline of a book about my life. After finding it, I simply added more words and pictures. The book is called, “MY MIRACLE.” It is about my whole life, up to this point. It talks about roads we take, decisions we make, how you communicate with a loved one going through this change, friends, family, relationships, college, work, God, and SO MUCH MORE.
The book “My Miracle” can be seen on http://SharingMiracles.net. I built this website when my book became live, so people all over the world could join in on discussions about life experiences or miracles. SharingMiracles.net is a very cool website because it talks about life and the music is awesome… Please, if you get a chance check it out.
It also can be seen on other websites. I have heard from people all over the world about their lives and how much the book has helped them. They are going or have been through some major changes in their lives that involved and came from accidents. “My Miracle” has given HOPE, UNDERSTANDING, and ALLOWED THEM TO SEE THROUGH MY EYES…
I would LOVE to hear from you either on this post or my website. Please, let me know whats on your mind… Tell me about your life or a loved one going through or has been through a head injury or accident! WE ALL ARE HERE TO HELP EACH OTHER. I’ve been through it ALL. TALK TO YA SOON.
Sincerely, Rodney
